The vessel Comandante Cigala Fulgosi, which was en route to the Gulf of Guinea, docked at the eastern pier of the Andalusian city for a scheduled stop. This ship is the first of four units in the Comandanti Class, which honor decorated naval officers for their military valor.
The uniqueness of this patrol vessel lies in its construction, commissioned from the Fincantieri shipyards in Riva Trigoso, with the aim of reducing its thermal and magnetic signature. Its design, characterized by angular shapes and flat surfaces, makes it difficult to detect by radar and other systems, earning it the nickname “the invisible ship” since its entry into service in 2001.
Although there are currently numerous vessels with similar characteristics in various navies, the Comandante Cigala Fulgosi, with its 88.6 meters in length, has maintained its nickname after a modernization that took place between April 2021 and May 2025. Its recent visit to Málaga has allowed citizens to get a closer look at this unique vessel.
