The Historical Parade, which recreates the incorporation of Málaga into the Kingdom of Castile in 1487, will be held on the Friday preceding the start of the Málaga Fair 2026. This event, organized by the Zegrí Cultural Association, will feature over 200 participants divided into two troops, Christian and Moorish.
The parade will commence at 8:00 PM in the Plaza de la Merced. The Christian troops will proceed towards the Plaza de la Aduana, a key location where the handover of the city keys to the Catholic Monarchs will be reenacted. Subsequently, the Moorish troops will descend from the Alcazaba to join the central act.
After the reenactment in the Plaza de la Aduana, both troops will parade through the Center of Málaga. The route will include streets such as Císter, Santa María, Molina Larios, Strachan, Torre de Sandobal, Larios, Marqués de Larios, Plaza de la Constitución, Granada Street, Plaza del Carbón, and Plaza del Siglo, concluding back at the Plaza de la Aduana around 10:15 PM - 10:30 PM.
The parade commemorates the incorporation of Málaga into the Crown of Castile on August 19, 1487. The fair itself was established in 1489 by Royal Decree from the Catholic Monarchs, and its annual celebration was set in 1491 to commemorate the city's conquest.
