The event, organized jointly with the Naval Command of Granada and Almería, is part of the commemorations for the 5th centenary of the birth of the Granadian sailor, declared by the Navy as the "Year of Álvaro de Bazán."
Julio Rodríguez, president of the Chamber of Motril, highlighted the institution's interest in promoting culture and the historical coincidence, encouraging the promotion of the talk with the Navy. He attributed the idea of joining the fifth centenary to the naval commander, with whom he has collaborated for three years.
Ángel Gamboa thanked the Chamber for its support of the Navy's initiatives and the welcome received in Motril, expressing confidence that the conference would serve to learn about naval leadership and its application to the business world.
Vice Admiral Marcial Gamboa described Motril as a "welcoming, beautiful" city and an "emblematic corner of Spain," thanking them for the opportunity to speak about Álvaro de Bazán, "the best of ours."
The mayor, Luisa García Chamorro, noted that this conference is part of the year's commemorative events, which include an upcoming flag-swearing ceremony in Granada and another in Motril before the end of the year.
The mayoress thanked the Chamber of Commerce for opening its doors to a cultural event, emphasizing its role in advising the productive sector and its contribution to the cultural life of Motril.
