The incident occurred last Wednesday evening on Bailora Carmen Amaya Street, where the vehicle collided with an embankment on a steep road. Despite the spectacular nature of the accident, no injuries were reported, although it did cause concern among local residents.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver lost control of the van after making a sudden turn, mounting the curb, and crashing before overturning. A man driving by stopped to assist the accident victim, who, minutes later, tested positive for alcohol.
One was going down and the other was going up; at that moment, he made a sudden turn, went onto the curb, hit the embankment, and overturned.
According to municipal sources, the driver left the scene of the accident to go to a nearby cafe, citing nervousness due to what had happened. Shortly after, a patrol from the Málaga Local Police located him and took him to the Accident Investigation and Report Group (GIAA) for an alcohol test, which yielded a positive result.
The individual is being investigated for an alleged crime against road safety and was summoned for a fast-track trial. Firefighters from the capital's Royal Fire Department also intervened at the scene to secure the area.
