The activity report from Cruz Roja for 2025 in Málaga highlights the scale of its intervention. With 33 activity points and 18 local committees, the organization mobilized nearly 5,700 volunteers and received support from over 28,000 members and companies, which are fundamental pillars for its humanitarian work.
In the area of social inclusion, the institution provided support to over 19,800 people, focusing on covering basic needs, community work, and access to rights. Of this group, more than 6,800 individuals face difficulties in meeting their essential requirements. The entity also highlighted assistance to over 2,100 homeless people in the province, marking a 40% increase in the last five years, with over 28,000 deliveries.
A priority area was the fight against unwanted loneliness among the elderly, assisting over 4,400 people in 2025. Projects were implemented to strengthen social networks through technology and promote active aging. The predominant profile of beneficiaries over 65 years old is an 81-year-old woman residing in rural areas.
Cruz Roja also managed six temporary reception facilities for refugees in the province, with 554 places in towns such as Casarabonela, Carratraca, Almáchar, and Málaga capital. In 2025, over 6,100 applicants for International Protection were assisted, a 53% increase from the previous year, driven by an emotional health project for Ukrainian individuals affected by the conflict.
Regarding assistance to migrants, the organization operated three shelters with 564 places, including 78 for vulnerable women. Assistance was offered to nearly 4,200 people, primarily 26-year-old men of Malian, Moroccan, Colombian, or Senegalese nationalities, many fleeing conflict or severe poverty. Cruz Roja facilitated their labor insertion into sectors such as agriculture, construction, cleaning, and restoration.
Cruz Roja's Employment Plan benefited nearly 7,200 people in 2025, a 24% increase from 2024. Additionally, the entity addressed emotional health, reaching over 1,900 people with awareness and prevention actions. The project Dualidad en armonía was initiated for the comprehensive rehabilitation of individuals with dual pathology, and the free telephone service Cruz Roja Te Escucha (900 107 917) remained available for psychosocial support.
Emergency response was also crucial, with interventions in several floods and support during the April 2025 blackout, where over 60 volunteers provided assistance. Temporary shelters were set up, and over 600 preventive coverages were carried out. Volunteerism, with nearly 5,700 people, remains the driving force of Cruz Roja in Málaga, with a majority profile of women (63.5%), 42 years old, and secondary education.
