The deputy spokesperson for the municipal group Con Málaga has criticized the Popular Party's government team for its lack of foresight and improvisation at the start of the future CaixaForum construction in Málaga, which, in their view, will severely impact mobility and parking in nearby neighborhoods.

The political representative stated that the CaixaForum project was announced more than three years ago, before the municipal elections, a period that, in their opinion, would have been sufficient to plan solutions to avoid the current impact. The criticism focuses on the fact that the works have begun without alternatives for the more than 300 surface parking spaces that will be eliminated.

"This lack of foresight will cause genuine chaos and mobility collapse in neighborhoods such as Los Corazones, Portada Alta, or Carranque, which already experience high traffic pressure."

Furthermore, they indicated that the government team has acted “late and poorly,” condemning these areas to become congested. The constant improvisation has been criticized, leading to reactions to neighborhood complaints with “hasty and unrealistic” proposals.
Among the questioned measures is the announcement of the construction of two underground car parks which, according to the spokesperson, will not be available for at least five years and will entail a high cost for residents. The proposal to demolish a recently renovated nursery school to gain a few spaces, when more could be created by changing the type of parking, has also been criticized.
The elimination of roads and the reorganization of traffic in Manuel Azaña Square will further worsen the situation, turning these neighborhoods into a “real rat trap” and severely affecting residents' quality of life. The impact will not only affect residents but also key professional groups, such as workers and users of the National Police Station and local hospitals.
Finally, the spokesperson expressed her group's support for the mobilizations called to denounce this situation, including a concentration by the National Police professional union and a demonstration by neighborhood associations, both scheduled for April 30.
