On the night of August 23rd, three tourists of British origin were involved in a series of vandalism acts in the La Trinidad area. The incidents included various acts of destruction, throwing glass bottles, and puncturing the tires of parked vehicles. A local resident has reported the situation, also warning about the existence of unlicensed tourist accommodations.
According to the resident's account, around three in the morning, two of the tourists allegedly slashed the tires of several cars with a knife. Beer and glass bottles were also thrown, and street furniture from the Metro construction site was damaged. A video shows one of the individuals involved throwing a construction screen onto the asphalt after hitting himself in the head with it.
The vandalism continued for one to two hours until the Police arrived. The resident described the situation as "unbearable" and recalled a similar incident on June 9th, when a group of tourists held an unauthorized party on a building's rooftop, resulting in one attendee falling from the roof.
Carlos Carrera, president of the Association of Neighbors of Old Town Malaga, confirmed that such acts "are not infrequent." He recalled a viral video from over a year ago showing tourists throwing a companion into a subterranean container in Plaza de Uncibay, requiring police and firefighters for his rescue.
Carrera also mentioned recent incidents such as tourists jumping and drinking on the roof of a tourist apartment near the Atarazanas Market. Fights outside nightclubs, excessive noise late at night, and partially forced apartment doors are, according to him, events that residents of central Malaga have come to consider "normal."
