The Provincial Firefighters Consortium (CPB) of the Malaga Provincial Council has taken a significant step in improving emergency management with the acquisition of two logistics vehicles. The investment, amounting to 1.5 million euros, is allocated to an Advanced Command Post truck and another equipped for floods and rescues. The President of the Provincial Council, Francisco Salado, presented the vehicles alongside the First Vice-President and Minister of Presidency, Health, and Emergencies of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Antonio Sanz, who also launched a fire prevention and awareness campaign.
Salado emphasized that the CPB is "at the forefront in Spain" in terms of professionals and equipment, with annual improvements to its resources. For his part, Sanz praised the collaboration of the Malaga CPB with the Andalusian Emergency Agency and the Infoca device, describing their intervention as "oxygen" and a guarantee of professionalism in complex emergencies such as forest fires and floods.
Minister Sanz highlighted the importance of the new vehicles, especially the Advanced Command Post truck, which is the first unit of its kind in Andalusia and will serve as a national benchmark. This vehicle features advanced communication, localization, and coordination systems, including two workstations for managers, computers, radios, whiteboards, satellite telephony, a drone with a thermal camera, and telescopic masts. The second area of the truck is designated for coordination meetings among firefighters, 061 (emergency medical services), police forces, Civil Protection, and political leaders.
The second vehicle is a 4x4 logistics truck equipped for floods and rescues, with a rear loading platform capacity of 2,100 kilograms. It includes a dozen motor pumps capable of evacuating 21,400 liters per minute and nine carts with special equipment for water pumping.
The fire prevention and awareness campaign, presented by Salado, aims to promote responsible behavior and compliance with safety regulations. Given a "particularly critical" summer with numerous forest and residential fires across Spain, the importance of prevention is emphasized. The President of the Provincial Council thanked the CPB for their work in extinguishing the Ávila fire, highlighting inter-administrative cooperation.
The campaign reminds the public that small responsible actions can prevent major disasters. Data from the first seven months of 2025 show a considerable increase in fire interventions, with 1,050 incidents (15% more), of which 301 were forest or agricultural fires (a 45% increase) and 205 were in homes. The campaign slogans are "It's in your hands" and "Material things can be replaced, life cannot."
Salado announced future improvements for the CPB, including the addition of two light urban pumpers and a 54-meter articulated ladder with an elevator this year, and two heavy rural pumpers and a 34-meter ladder next year, with a total investment of four million euros. Additionally, 46 new firefighters will join the staff in 2027.
