The workload of the Superior Prosecutor's Office of Andalusia, Ceuta, and Melilla in 2025 was virtually identical to the previous year, with 340,701 preliminary inquiries registered, 223 more than in 2024. However, in qualitative terms, the Prosecutor's Office acknowledges a significant jump in the nature of the offenses.
Serious crimes, those carrying the highest penalties, saw a 15% increase. 658 summary proceedings were processed in 2025, which is 86 more than the previous year. The provinces of Almería, Cádiz, Jaén, and Málaga have registered the highest surge in these offenses.
Despite the rise in serious crimes, the overall analysis of criminality in Andalusia in 2025 indicates a "slight decrease" of 2,591 fewer cases, according to statistics from the judicial operating system @adriano. This criminality indicator sums up procedural records aimed at prosecution, including qualified urgent proceedings, abbreviated proceedings, summary proceedings, jury trials, and minor offenses, totaling 101,055 cases.
The Prosecutor's Office details that qualified urgent proceedings (fast-track trials) decreased by 4.18% (31,816 cases in 2025 compared to 33,207 in 2024). Conversely, abbreviated proceedings grew by 7.47%, with 39,960 cases compared to 37,180. Jury trials also showed a decrease of 12.8% (109 in 2025 versus 125 in 2024), as did minor offenses, which decreased by 10.17% (26,921 cases versus 29,971).
Investigation inquiries increased by 12.2%, with 506 more than the 4,142 from the previous year. Oral trial indictments totaled 87,957, a 3.6% decrease from 2024, and criminal sentences dropped by 11.2%, with 71,498 recorded.
The Superior Prosecutor's Office, headquartered in Granada with branches in Málaga and Seville, participated in 621 criminal proceedings before the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Andalusia, a 23.7% increase. There were 24 appeals with hearings in proceedings before the Jury Court, 68 criminal competence issues were initiated, and 38 criminal cases against judges, magistrates, and prosecutors were registered.
The superior prosecutor of Andalusia, Ana Tárrago Ruiz, noted that despite a stable procedural activity, Andalusia presents "very high litigation" in relation to the material and personal resources available to ensure an agile and efficient judicial service.
