The choice of Malaga as one of the first stops to present her novel and sign books is not coincidental. The city holds a very special place in Alejandra Rubio's life, as she acknowledges a profound emotional connection with the capital of the Costa del Sol. "I love Malaga. It had to be one of the first cities where I presented the book," she explains. The writer states that a large part of her family memories are tied to the city. "It means everything to me. There was a time when I only wanted to live here; if I didn't live in Malaga, I was unhappy. Most of my family lives in this city."
Her connection with Malaga also extends to one of the province's most deeply rooted traditions: Holy Week (Semana Santa). The Madrid-born author confesses it is her favorite week of the year and boasts of her devotion to several of the city's most emblematic images. "The only bracelet I wear is the one from the Gitanos brotherhood. I have marched with La Paloma and almost caught fire with a candle," she comments with a laugh. "El Cautivo means everything to me, although I have something very special with the Gitanos that I cannot explain."
Despite the affection she feels for Malaga, she rules out a change of residence in the short term. Her personal and professional life is currently tied to Madrid, where she resides with her family. "My life is completely in Madrid, and right now I'm not considering moving here. I have a son and I'm going to have another, so this is not the stage to do it," she points out. However, she does not close the door to returning in the future. "When I'm older, I will surely come to live in Malaga."
