The Councilor for Environmental Sustainability, Penélope Gómez, and the Director of the Santo Domingo Dining Hall, Damián Lampérez, attended the donation handover this morning. This year, the organization received 500 liters of oil.
The donated oil comes from offerings made by devotees to the Souls of Purgatory before a representation located in the chapel of the San Miguel cemetery. Traditionally, this oil is used to fuel candles and as an intercession for the faithful's requests.
Subsequently, Parcemasa collects the bottles and donates them annually to groups that assist needy individuals, in coordination with the City Council's Social Rights department.
