The project, titled ‘RIMAS: Narratives and Interdisciplinary Networks for Educational and Social Inclusion’, is coordinated by researchers Pablo Cortés (UMA) and Eduardo Fernández (University of Valladolid). The scientific team comprises about twenty specialists and collaborators from universities such as the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (Mexico) and the National University of Comahue (Argentina), alongside educational, social, and cultural entities from Andalusia, Castilla y León, Catalonia, and Mexico.
RIMAS's primary objective is to strengthen ties between schools, universities, and cultural and social entities, promoting the creation of community learning ecosystems. According to its proponents, systematizing cultural experiences, multisensory practices, and narratives will help move innovation beyond the strictly academic sphere and design horizontal collaboration models.
The initiative will generate resources and knowledge for participating teachers, students, families, and social organizations, proposing a collaborative model where all stakeholders contribute and benefit from exchange and collective creation. One of the key milestones will be ‘RIMAS OpenLab’, an open physical and digital space for experimenting with and exchanging interdisciplinary and multimodal practices.
The project will be executed in four phases, beginning with a narrative mapping and documentary cartography to identify inclusive practices. Subsequently, information on the key elements supporting inclusive ecosystems will be gathered, leading to the creation of ‘RIMAS OpenLab’, a digital repository of pedagogical resources and proposals for educational, cultural, and social transformation.
RIMAS is part of the ‘Knowledge Generation Projects 2025’ call from the State Research Agency (AEI), funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities with co-financing from the European Union. With a budget of 112,500 euros, the project will run until August 31, 2030, and contributes to Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
