The operation, named 'Puerto', resulted in the arrest of nine men and one woman as alleged perpetrators of continuous criminal activity. The dealing points were located in two residences on the aforementioned square, an area close to several primary and secondary educational centers.
During the investigation, which lasted several weeks, specialized agents from the Jerez Police Station gathered evidence indicating "intense activity" in the sale of narcotics. According to the inquiries, regular consumers traveled to the location to purchase their doses, causing coexistence and security problems in the neighborhood.
The police operation included the search of three homes on Plaza Padre José María Lara. In one of them, an indoor marijuana plantation was discovered with over a hundred plants spread across several rooms. The electrical installation for this cultivation was illegally connected, tripling the building's consumption and increasing fire risk.
