The Popular Party announced its candidates who will lead the lists in provincial capitals and autonomous communities for the May 2027 municipal elections. In a press conference given by the party's Secretary General, Miguel Tellado, and the President of the National Electoral Committee, Diego Calvo, it was detailed that the PP currently governs 30 out of 50 provincial capitals. Of the remaining 20, 11 candidacies are being renewed. Nationally, 42% of the candidacies, meaning 21 out of 50, will be headed by women.
In Andalusia, the party has decided to maintain confidence in the current mayors of several key cities. In Seville, José Luis Sanz will continue; in Málaga, Francisco De La Torre; in Granada, Marifrán Carazo; and in Cádiz, Bruno García. Likewise, José María Bellido will repeat as candidate in Córdoba.
The mayor of Almería, María Del Mar Vázquez, remains the PP's choice for the province. In Huelva, the candidacy will be led by María Del Pilar Miranda. The only Andalusian province where the PP does not hold the mayoralty is Jaén, currently governed by the PSOE. To reverse this situation, the party has placed its trust in Isabel Azañón.
Juanma Moreno, President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, praised the selection of Isabel Azañón on social media, describing her as "a woman with great knowledge of the city, proven experience in the City Council, and a close link with Jaén's social and economic fabric." The Jaén candidate previously served as Councilor for Culture in earlier governments and currently holds the secretary position for the Social Council of the University of Jaén.
