The Comptroller General of the Junta de Andalucía, Miguel Ángel Figueroa Teva, has resigned after 17 months in the position. Figueroa Teva had attempted to step down in December 2025 when his name surfaced in connection with Vicente Fernández Guerrero, former president of SEPI and an individual under investigation in the Leire Díaz case.
According to published reports, Figueroa Teva's link to the Leire Díaz affair appears indirect, although documents seized from Leire Díaz, described as a 'plumber' for former PSOE Organization Secretary Santos Cerdán, refer to the former comptroller as 'our eyes at SEPI'.
The professional relationship between Figueroa Teva and Fernández Guerrero culminated with Figueroa Teva's appointment as Director of Participadas III at SEPI, a role he held from 2018 to 2021. Subsequently, following Fernández Guerrero's departure, the new president of the state entity, Belén Gualda, took office.
The Andalusian government had asked Figueroa Teva to delay his departure until after the Andalusian Parliament elections, which took place on May 17. Last Monday, he formally submitted his resignation, citing personal reasons and the desire to prevent the Junta from being implicated by information regarding his professional and personal relationship with Fernández Guerrero.
The Governing Council plans to address his replacement next week, and regulations allow for the position to be filled by the most senior comptroller within the body. Figueroa Teva is a civil servant of the Higher Corps of General Administrators of the Junta de Andalucía and has held various positions within the Comptroller's office since 2005.
Figueroa Teva's name had previously emerged in January during a Senate appearance by the then First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero. She accused the PP of orchestrating a campaign against her and identified the Junta's Comptroller General as the 'right-hand man' of the former SEPI president.
