Spanish players Alejo Sánchez Quilez and Benjamín Winter López have won the doubles title at the ATP Challenger Pozoblanco, defeating the Turkish pair Yanki Erel and Arda Azkara with a score of 6-2, 7-5 in one hour and 17 minutes of play.
This victory marks the third time a purely Spanish pair has won the title in the Vallesano tournament, a feat not achieved since brothers Marcel and Gerard Granollers in 2010. Before them, Fernando Vicente and Santi Ventura had also claimed the title in 2007.
The Spanish duo demonstrated their superiority for most of the match. In the first set, despite the Turkish duo's effective service, Sánchez and Winter managed to break their opponents' serve in the sixth game and closed out the set on serve in the eighth.
The start of the second set presented a challenge when Yanki Erel and Arda Azkara secured a break. However, Sánchez and Winter regained the initiative, broke the Turkish serve, and dominated the remainder of the match, securing their first ATP Challenger title as a pair.
With this victory, Alejo Sánchez Quilez and Benjamín Winter López earn a prize of $4,540 and 75 ATP points. Meanwhile, Yanki Erel and Arda Azkara receive $2,630 and 50 ATP points.
Separately, Belarusian Ilya Ivashka and Luxembourger Chris Rodesch will play the singles final of the Open Ciudad de Pozoblanco 2026 this Sunday, after winning their respective semi-finals.
