The measure, adopted by the territorial delegations of Educational Development and Vocational Training and University, Research and Innovation of Córdoba, has been met with disapproval by most local schools. They believe the expansion disproportionately benefits families who applied for a place at CEIP Manuel Cano, to the detriment of other public schools that maintain only one Infant Education line.
The dissatisfaction became evident at the Territorial Admission Guarantee Commission, where schools, with the logical exception of CEIP Manuel Cano, pointed out that in previous years, units had not been expanded in other schools like CEIP Virgen de Luna or CDP San José, despite having more applications than available places. In those instances, families were relocated to other centers.
On this occasion, the unit split was expected to go to CEIP Virgen de Luna, which also exceeded the number of applications. However, the Junta has chosen to create the third line at CEIP Manuel Cano. This situation raises concerns among the non-benefiting schools, as they fear a reduction in their teaching and physical resources in future academic years, despite having classrooms equipped for 3-year-old Infant Education.
To accommodate this new unit, CEIP Manuel Cano will need to adapt a new space, including the installation of a dedicated toilet for students, with the responsibility for these works falling to the Local Administration.
