The delegate for Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, Carmen Lidia Reyes, alongside the town's mayor, Juan Antonio Fernández, have launched this new EDAR, located in the Comarca de los Montes. The project, benefiting 1,730 inhabitants, received funding of over 2.6 million euros.
Carmen Lidia Reyes highlighted the significance of this investment, describing it as an action that "improves the environment and, overall, the quality of life for farmers and the inhabitants of this municipality".
The works involved the construction of more than three kilometers of collectors and 400 reinforced concrete wells. These elements channel municipal wastewater to a main collector that directs it to the EDAR, situated south of the town. A small pumping station was also installed to elevate a flow rate of three liters per second.
The new plant is designed to treat a daily flow of 377.5 cubic meters. Its system includes pre-treatment (screening, de-sanding, de-greasing), primary treatment via a decanter-digester, and secondary treatment using rotating biological contactors (biodiscs) and settling.
The project also encompasses a line for sludge treatment and dewatering, the discharge collector for treated water to the riverbed, buildings for staff facilities and telecontrol, electrical installations, and 600 meters of asphalted road for access. Urbanization and landscape integration have been carried out, along with water connection to the municipal network.
Mayor Juan Antonio Fernández expressed his satisfaction, emphasizing the "benefits the treatment plant brings to our municipality" and thanking the Junta de Andalucía for their support.
