The fire's progression has forced the evacuation of over fifty residents from various neighborhoods in Los Gallardos and the neighboring town of Bédar. At least one home has been impacted by the flames, heightening concerns for the safety of residential areas in the Levante almeriense.
The Plan Infoca response team has bolstered its presence, currently deploying one hundred forest firefighters, two fire engines, and 16 aircraft, including helicopters and ground-based air tankers. Weather conditions, particularly wind, are complicating containment efforts.
Given the dense smoke column, visible from locations such as the A-7 highway, Vera, and the Murcian town of Águilas, authorities have issued preventive advice. Residents are urged to keep doors and windows closed and to take extra precautions to protect vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and the ill.
