The Úbeda City Council has bestowed the City's Gold Medal upon the Guardia Civil's ROCA Team, one of the highest municipal honors. The institutional ceremony took place at the Auditorium of Hospital de Santiago, in an event that highlighted the unit's dedication.
This distinction underscores the significant work that the ROCA Team has carried out since its inception in safeguarding rural areas. During the event, their continuous effort, proximity to the territory, and effectiveness in combating rural crime were emphasized, contributing decisively to restoring peace of mind for farmers and strengthening security in rural settings.
“"The ROCA Team has marked a before and after in the security of Úbeda's rural areas, not only for the results obtained, but also for their human commitment, their permanent presence, and their ability to generate trust among citizens."
Furthermore, the importance of coordination among different security forces was highlighted, emphasizing that institutional cooperation is a fundamental pillar for continued progress in protecting rural environments.
Representing the team, Commander José Corpas Ruiz-Barruecos expressed gratitude for the recognition on behalf of all members of the ROCA Team, valuing their effort, dedication, and shared commitment with the citizenry and the agricultural sector.
With the awarding of this Gold Medal, the heritage city of Úbeda publicly recognizes those who, through their daily work, protect an essential part of the province's identity: the vast "sea of olive trees".
