The Department of Infrastructure Maintenance has reported the completion of these tasks, carried out progressively and in response to specific alerts. The company contracted for the city's sanitation maintenance, Acciona, executed the work, which finished on Friday, August 14.
Councilor Jerónimo García explained that the request to expedite these tasks, typically ending in September, aimed to prepare the drainage system for possible summer storms, particularly in August. Nine operational zones, including the districts, were inspected.
In addition to cleaning, photographic and video records were taken of each drain to verify their condition and readiness. García cautioned that rainfall could reintroduce sediment, especially in critical areas like slopes or where water from multiple streets converges. Active monitoring will continue in these locations.
Concurrently, pest control and rodent extermination of the sanitation network have been finalized. These operations, also conducted across the city's nine zones, required intensification due to weather conditions, with high temperatures and humidity fostering the proliferation of insects and rodents.
In some areas, duplicate treatments were necessary after detecting pest presence shortly after the initial intervention. Currently, all zones are treated, and continuous monitoring is maintained for on-demand action.
These initiatives are part of the preventive and maintenance efforts for municipal infrastructure, aiming to ensure the proper functioning of drainage and sanitation networks and maintain public health conditions in the city and its districts throughout the summer.
