This new stage of recovery focuses on the front wall, the pendentives, the central shield of San Lorenzo, and the set of mural paintings adorning the space. The initiative is made possible by the collaboration between the Huerta de San Antonio Foundation and the Caja Rural de Jaén Foundation.

Previous works already addressed the Baroque dome and stained glass windows, as well as the restoration of the Mudejar paintings of the coffered ceiling between 2018 and 2022. The front wall shows pathologies such as water infiltrations, fissures, and accumulations of successive whitewashes that hinder the appreciation of the decorative ensemble.
The intervention will follow principles of minimal action and material compatibility. It will begin with exhaustive documentation through photogrammetry and stratigraphic surveys, followed by gradual cleaning and consolidation of supports and plasterwork.
A notable aspect is the treatment of contemporary mural paintings, created in the 20th century by disciples of the sculptor Palma Burgos. These works, made when the building was used as a warehouse and art studio, combine religious scenes such as sketches of the Virgin Mary and crucified figures, with profane elements like the Atlético de Madrid shield, portraits, and trompe-l'œil including wine bottles and peseta banknotes.
The completion of this phase will consolidate the presbytery, restore the spatial reading of the Main Chapel, and strengthen the role of the San Lorenzo church as a reference point for Úbeda's heritage and an active cultural space.
