The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory will fully fund the six projects planned by the Begíjar City Council, aimed at repairing municipal infrastructure affected by floods and carrying out new prevention works. The total investment amounts to 5,777,591.64 euros.
The government's sub-delegate in Jaén, Manuel Fernández, highlighted this as a "historic investment" that will not only repair damage but also enhance safety, drainage capacity, and the municipality's protection against future intense rainfall. The City Council will have three years to execute the projects.
The main intervention will be the channeling of the southeastern area of Begíjar, with a budget of 2,972,736.42 euros, complemented by improvements in the same area costing 836,700.17 euros. These actions aim to improve water evacuation and reduce flood risk.
The plan also includes the construction of a new rainwater drainage system around the old train station, with an investment of 1,251,633.78 euros, to enhance rainwater collection and evacuation.
Other planned actions include the repair of Ramón y Cajal street (313,918.24 euros) and Francisco López street (284,449.30 euros), both affected by the floods of January 27, 2026. Additionally, 118,153.73 euros will be allocated to repairing the fairground building on Cervantes street.
