“"The burning of stubble must meet the requirement of submitting a responsible declaration or authorization, depending on the risk season, and also mandates that it be a controlled activity. It is essential that the personnel carrying it out comply with mandatory safety measures during periods of low, medium, or high danger."

The Civil Guard has launched an investigation into three individuals for their alleged responsibility in a forest fire that affected over 50 hectares of the Los Alcornocales Natural Park in Medina Sidonia, originating from the burning of plant debris.
The fire, which started on April 1, is attributed to the burning of plant remains from forest cleaning and clearing operations. Although these activities had prior authorization for responsible burning, a lack of safety measures and a failure to comply with protocols for complete fire extinction were identified.
These failures led to the reactivation of the flames, which spread across an area of 50.6799 hectares within the valuable natural environment. The swift intervention of agents and INFOCA was crucial in stabilizing and eventually extinguishing the fire completely five days after its onset.
SEPRONA, the specialized unit of the Civil Guard, emphasizes the importance of civic responsibility in preventing such incidents. They stress the need to strictly adhere to safety measures during stubble burning, considering factors such as wind, permanent vigilance until the embers are completely extinguished, appropriate timing, safety perimeters, and having extinguishing equipment readily available.
