Under the title “Primera Levantá: Tuna in its Habitat,” the program will take place on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, offering residents and visitors an immersion into the almadraba tradition. This initiative complements the XVIII Gastronomic Tuna Week, which runs until May 3.
Activities will commence on Friday, April 24, at the Casa de la Cultura. Following the reception of attendees at 5:00 PM and the official inauguration at 5:30 PM, a lecture titled “Bluefin Tuna. Beyond Sushi” will be delivered at 6:00 PM. This talk will be given by a doctor in Biology and technician from the Spanish Institute of Oceanography.
Saturday, April 25, will be dedicated to practical experiences. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the La Chanca Tuna Museum and enjoy a naval tour of the bay aboard the Marine Atlantes. These activities aim to bring knowledge of the marine environment and the richness of bluefin tuna closer to all audiences.
“"To continue promoting initiatives that highlight the almadraba tradition and knowledge of the marine environment, bringing the richness that bluefin tuna represents for the town closer to both residents and visitors."
The Barbate City Council has emphasized the informative and participatory nature of this proposal, which combines presentations, visits, and direct experiences. The organization encourages citizens to register, as places are limited, in order to strengthen Barbate's identity as a benchmark in the field of almadraba bluefin tuna.
