The mayor of Torrox, Óscar Medina (PP), confirmed the arrival of these funds, emphasizing the critical importance of agricultural activity for the municipality, both economically and socially. Medina reiterated the Government team's commitment to farmers, aiming to improve their working conditions and strengthen their strategic role in the locality.
Furthermore, the mayor praised the outstanding work of the municipal operational services and the Torrox Local Police during the most critical periods of the storm fronts. He stated that their actions were crucial in preventing greater damage to the lanes and ensuring the safety and mobility of residents.
“"Agricultural activity is key for Torrox, both from an economic and social point of view, and from the Government team we continue to support those who make it possible with actions that improve their working conditions and reinforce their strategic role in the municipality."
These initial subsidies, amounting to 18,500 euros, complement the emergency work already carried out by the Torrox Town Hall. Of this sum, over 4,500 euros will be specifically allocated to the Camino de La Rábita, with the remainder distributed among other affected agricultural lanes, as part of the Emergency Action Plan for rural road repair.
The area's councilor, Ana Pérez (PP), highlighted that securing these grants validates the rigorous and consistent efforts of the Town Hall, particularly the essential work of municipal technicians, who ensure the realization of these projects under responsible management. Pérez also mentioned that they are awaiting the resolution of other aid applications submitted to the central Government, via the Málaga Provincial Council, to continue necessary repairs in the municipality.
In parallel, the Torrox Government team continues to promote initiatives to strengthen the agricultural sector, such as studying a pioneering plant in the Axarquía for vegetable waste treatment, which will complement the new Clean Point. Efforts are also underway to optimize the collection of agricultural plastics in collaboration with the Málaga Provincial Council and the concessionary cleaning service company, FCC Caviclum.
