This installation, which has become one of the visual symbols of the Axarquía municipality, significantly impacts its tourist visibility. Photographs of the umbrellas have gone viral on social media in recent years, becoming a popular attraction for visitors.
The reinstallation of the umbrellas strategically coincides with the beginning of spring and the weeks leading up to the summer season, a period of high visitor influx in Torrox's Historic Center. Beyond their aesthetic value, the structure serves a practical function by providing shade and improving comfort in a heavily used public area.
“"With this action, we not only recover one of the most characteristic and recognizable images of the municipality, but we also highlight an enclave that, especially in recent years, has become one of the most photographed and shared on social media, directly contributing to Torrox's tourism projection."
The municipal official also emphasized that the reinstallation of the umbrellas is part of a broader plan to improve the historic center, aiming to make the urban core “more accessible, well-maintained, and attractive.”
The Plaza de la Constitución, the heart of Torrox's historic center, is a key point for both local commerce and surrounding hospitality businesses. The combination of the space's renovation and the reinstallation of the umbrellas seeks, according to the City Council, to revitalize this area and attract greater economic activity to the surroundings.
