For three days, Comares became a space for photographic learning, focused on educating the eye and teaching participants to discover stories in everyday details. The workshop, led by Mariano Pozo, head of the Nomad School f22 and sponsored by Fundación Unicaja, was intended for the town's residents.
The initiative began with a theoretical session covering composition, framing, light, and visual narrative, emphasizing observation and finding beauty in common scenes. Attendees shared experiences, understanding photography as a tool for emotional expression.
The second day took place in the streets of Comares, where participants, with phones and cameras in hand, practiced what they had learned. Facades, shadows, and daily details became the focus, helping attendees see their own town with a new perspective.
The workshop culminated in an exhibition at the municipal library, showcasing the students' work and reflecting their technical evolution and sensitivity. The mayor of Comares, José Miguel Ruiz Padilla, attended the opening, highlighting the importance of such initiatives for rural cultural life.
“"Thanks to the Nomad School and Fundación Unicaja for these types of initiatives that bring the world of photography closer to rural areas, giving our neighbors the opportunity to wander through our streets to capture their town in this exhibition and also enjoy the development of this initiative."
Beyond the images, the workshop promoted the idea that photography can be a way to pause time and rediscover reality from a more conscious and connected perspective.
