This festival, recognized as being of Provincial Tourist Interest, aims to honor the agricultural tradition and the region's star product. Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to taste fresh loquats, as well as loquat jam and the renowned local muscatel wine. Additionally, craft and typical product stalls will open at noon.
“"A festival that pays tribute to a rich, tasty, and quality fruit. A crop we are very proud of and that everyone associates with Sayalonga. It's no wonder they boast the slogan: Sayalonga, loquat paradise."
The cultural program includes performances by the Amanecer de Sayalonga and Corumbela dance groups, followed by the Rondalla de Sayalonga. In the afternoon, the Panda de Verdiales Primera de Comares and the Coro Rociero La Blanca Paloma de Corumbela will entertain the attendees. The music will continue with a tribute concert to Manuel Carrasco and sets by DJ Oliver Gil and DJ P. Rivas.
As part of the celebration, several awards will be presented. The Local Loquat of Honor will be given to a local resident for her dedication to the town and her contribution to the festival's consolidation. The Provincial Loquat of Honor will be awarded to the Underwater Activities Group Geas of the Civil Guard for their work in search and rescue. The Comarcal Loquat of Honor will go to the Municipal Women's Information Center (CMIM) of the Commonwealth of Municipalities Costa del Sol Axarquía for their efforts in promoting equality and preventing gender violence. The Loquat Harvester Award will recognize the lifetime work of a local farmer.
Furthermore, prizes from the Children's Loquat Day Drawing Contest, organized by the Municipal Library, will be awarded, and the artwork chosen for this year's promotional poster will be recognized. The Sayalonga Town Council has prepared a map highlighting a dozen tourist attractions, such as the Alcuza alley, the Moorish Museum, or the 16th-century hermitage of San Cayetano, encouraging visitors to explore the town.
