The Mancomunidad Axarquía Costa del Sol has confirmed its collaboration in the I Subterranean Geology Meeting Cueva de Nerja, an event that will gather more than 60 researchers, scholars, historians, and individuals interested in subterranean geology from all over Spain.
This meeting, scheduled to take place between April 17 and 19, aims primarily to disseminate knowledge derived from geological research in subterranean environments, with particular attention to caves. The topics to be addressed are diverse, including the exploration, research, conservation, management, and dissemination of geology and subterranean geological heritage.
“"It highlights the scientific value of the Cueva de Nerja and the capacity of its teams to organize this national meeting."
Jorge Martín, president of the Mancomunidad Axarquía Costa del Sol, congratulated the Cueva de Nerja Foundation and its organizing team for the initiative. Martín also emphasized the event's relevance from a tourism perspective, noting that “people come from all over Spain with an interest in discovering territories like Axarquía with valuable natural and patrimonial resources.”
Consequently, the Tourism area of the Mancomunidad is actively collaborating by offering participants a traveler's bag that includes local products such as Moscatel raisins, cane honey, and extra virgin olive oil, along with a tourist map featuring QR codes for the 31 towns in the region, encouraging attendees to explore the area during their stay or on future vacations.
