The municipality of Torrox will benefit from a new economic contribution of one million euros from the Malaga Provincial Council. These funds, transferred as part of the third municipal economic assistance plan, are unconditional and give the City Council complete freedom to allocate them to the areas it deems most priority, whether for investments, equipment, or current expenses for public service provision.
According to the town's mayor, this economic injection will allow for continued progress on major projects for the municipality. Among these, the construction of the wooden bridge over the mouth of the Torrox river, integrated into the Senda Litoral, stands out. The mayor expressed his gratitude to the President of the Provincial Council for his support of local development.
The councilor of the Governing Team and provincial deputy for European Resources explained that these funds come from the surpluses of the 2025 provincial budget. She emphasized the importance of these plans in ensuring economic balance, financial sufficiency, and the maintenance of services for local administrations.
This third aid plan was approved by the provincial entity with the support of the PP and Vox parties, while Adelante Málaga and the PSOE abstained. With this measure, Malaga municipalities will receive a total of 65.6 million euros this year, which, added to the 25.7 million from the Concertación, brings the Provincial Council's total injection to municipalities to 91.3 million euros. 75% of this total amount is prioritized for towns with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.
