The presentation of the program was led by the president of the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Axarquía, Jorge Martín, alongside the mayor of Comares, Miguel Ruiz, deputy mayor Emiliani Jiménez, and councilor José Manuel Rey. The fair aims to be a meeting point for residents, families, and visitors, especially for those who emigrated and return to the town.
Jorge Martín highlighted that the fair is an opportunity to enjoy contemporary music and ancestral folklore, with verdiales as its peak expression. He invited attendees to experience this traditional festival and appreciate the beauty of Comares, a growing tourist destination.
Mayor Miguel Ruiz noted that the fair, whose main festivity is in January, is held in August to conclude the fairs of the interior of Axarquía, serving as a reunion day for residents and those returning to the municipality.
The 2026 edition will kick off on Thursday the 27th at 10 PM with the Choir Encounter, followed by a performance by Aire Flamenco at midnight. Friday the 28th will feature a Children's Park, a bicycle ribbon race, a performance by the El Borge Panda, the Moonlight Orchestra, and the election of the junior and youth queen and king, concluding with Legado ‘Tributo a El Barrio’ and Dj Toulalan.
Saturday the 29th will begin with a 'diana floreada' (morning parade) by the Benamocarra Music Band, followed by a Rociera Mass in honor of San Hilario with the Municipal Choir Balcón de la Axarquía. The Day Fair will include paella tastings and music from El Mole, Las Maragatas Comares y Pedanía, and Arrejuntaos. In the afternoon, there will be motorcycle ribbon races, a performance by the Verdiales Primera de Comares Panda, the Moonlight Orchestra, a concert by Norlasco, and Dj Toulalan.
On Sunday the 30th, activities will include a horse ribbon race, performances by Arroyo Conca and Leyenda Eterna (‘Tributo a Manolo Escobar’). The procession in honor of San Hilario de Poitiers will take place at 10 PM, and the Moonlight Orchestra will close the festival.
Miguel Ruiz extended an invitation to the entire province of Málaga to visit Comares, highlighting the beauty of its historic center, its views, gastronomy, and hospitality. He thanked José Manuel Martín for the poster design, which features the Arco street and verdiales, and acknowledged the collaboration of the Provincial Council and the Mancomunidad Axarquía.
