Árchez Among 13 Andalusian Zones Declared Emergency Due to Fires

The Government has declared Árchez and 12 other zones in Andalusia as affected by civil protection emergencies due to forest fires that occurred between March 31 and July 27, 2026.

The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of the Interior, has declared 13 zones in Andalusia as affected by a civil protection emergency, following forest fires registered between March 31 and July 27, 2026.
The affected zones include Alosno (Huelva), Villanueva de Castillejos (Huelva), Guillena (Seville), Santa Elena (Jaén), Grazalema (Cádiz), Estepona-Benahavís (Málaga), Los Gallardos (Almería), Árchez (Málaga), Almonaster la Real (Huelva), two in Cerro del Andévalo (Huelva), Cerro Muriano (Córdoba), and Pino del Valle (Granada).
The agreement highlights the severity of the fire in Los Gallardos (Almería), which caused thirteen fatalities and serious material consequences. The text also mentions other incidents that occurred during the same period in various autonomous communities, such as fires in Galicia, Asturias, Valencian Community, Ibiza, Catalonia, Region of Murcia, A Coruña, Ourense, Castilla y León, Aragon, La Rioja, and Ciudad Real, as well as coastal phenomena in Menorca and rain and storms in Catalonia and Mallorca.
The declaration of an affected zone opens the door for the application of various aid measures managed by the Ministry of the Interior, aimed at alleviating personal and material damages, expenses of local corporations, and industrial, commercial, and service establishments. It also contemplates the exemption of fees from the Central Traffic Authority and for the issuance of the National Identity Document (DNI).
Additionally, other government departments may provide specific aid. The Ministry of Finance plans exemptions on the Real Estate Tax (IBI) and reductions on the Economic Activities Tax (IAE), in addition to Personal Income Tax (IRPF) exemptions for personal damages. The ministries of Labor and Social Economy and of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migrations may implement labor measures and social security contribution bonuses and exemptions.
The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory will grant aid to local entities for the repair of municipal infrastructure. Likewise, emergency works may be declared to repair damages to public infrastructure, and contracts for repair and maintenance, as well as expropriations of affected properties, will be expedited.
