A wildfire that broke out on Monday afternoon in a natural area near the Garcíez River, within the municipality of Bedmar y Garcíez (Jaén), has been brought under control following an intense intervention by Plan INFOCA teams and active participation from local authorities and residents.

The fire started late Monday afternoon in an ecologically valuable area, causing concern among residents due to its proximity to natural spaces. From the outset, INFOCA personnel were deployed to begin control and extinguishing efforts.
The Bedmar y Garcíez Town Council played a crucial role during the emergency, collaborating closely with the firefighting teams. The mayor, Enrique Carreras, along with councilor Gregorio Quesada and municipal worker Miguel Morales, actively participated in on-site support tasks.

The Town Council wished to express gratitude for the swift action of the extinguishing services, as well as the involvement of the deployed agents and the community collaboration, which proved key in containing the fire in its initial stages.

In addition to official resources, a group of residents from Garcíez voluntarily joined the efforts, significantly helping to contain the spread of the flames during the fire's early stages. By the end of the day, the fire was under control, although INFOCA teams maintained vigilance and worked on hot spots throughout the night to prevent potential flare-ups.
As of now, no personal injuries have been reported, nor has the affected area been quantified, pending a more detailed assessment by specialized technicians.
