The incident took place on Monday, around 1:00 PM, during several searches being conducted by the National Police in the neighborhood. One of the investigated individuals chose to escape across the rooftops of the houses to avoid being intercepted by authorities.
The escape ended abruptly when the man, approximately 25 years old, fell from a height of about five meters onto Virgen de la Paloma Street. Emergency services from 061 arrived at the scene with a mobile ICU to attend to the injured person.
Although conscious, the individual suffered various traumas and fractures of varying severity. After being stabilized on site, he was transferred to the Neurotraumatological Hospital in the capital in serious condition, where he remains under police custody.
Searches in the neighborhood continued for hours after the incident, as part of an ongoing investigation that does not rule out further actions. Residents of Peñamefécit witnessed a large police deployment that kept the area tense for much of the day.
