The Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning, and Housing on Thursday, June 4, has opened a flooded ford as a provisional detour on the A-6000 road, between Mengíbar and Villatorres. This measure aims to restore traffic that had been cut off since February 4 due to irreparable damage to the bridge over the Guadalbullón river, caused by the storm season in January and February.

The road closure had left the municipalities of Torrequebradilla and Villargordo isolated from Mengíbar and its access to the A-44. Additionally, the Los Chorrillos urbanization was disconnected from the urban center of Mengíbar.

The new flooded ford, connecting the A-316 with the A-44, features a four-meter wide platform. It is clearly marked with traffic priority signals and has access restrictions for heavy transport. To make it operational, the Ministry has constructed new road sections linking the A-6000 to this temporary river crossing.

This action is part of the emergency works under the Andalucía Actúa plan, launched by the Government of Andalusia following the storms. Concurrently, the regional government is progressing with the project to construct a new permanent structure to replace the irreversibly damaged bridge over the Guadalbullón river.

Furthermore, on the same Thursday, at 7:00 AM, the section of the Autovía del Olivar entering Jaén from the north via the A-316, between kilometers 51 and 53+400, was fully reopened to traffic. The Ministry of Development has completed repairs to the road surface, also damaged by the storms, which had necessitated a temporary lane closure and detour. This intervention is also part of the Andalucía Actúa plan.
