This recognition, published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), highlights the excellence of olive oils produced in the province of Jaén. According to Manuel Fernández, the Government's sub-delegate in Jaén, this award “consolidates Jaén's position as a national and international benchmark in the production of top-quality oils.”
The significance of Jaén's olive oil sector is also evident in the presence of other local firms among the competition's finalists. Companies such as Aceites Oro Bailén Galgón 99 were finalists in the conventional production category, Bitter Green Fruity variety, and in the organic production category. Similarly, Aires de Jaén was a finalist in the conventional production category, Green Fruity variety.
“"We are witnessing a true transformation of the olive oil sector, with producers increasingly committed to obtaining an excellent and differentiated product."
Sub-delegate Manuel Fernández welcomed Picualia's executives, including president Gabriel Alonso, manager Juan Antonio Parrilla, and mill master Emilio Artero. During the meeting, Fernández praised the cooperative's trajectory, which originated in 2009 from the merger of Agrícola de Bailén and Virgen de Zocueca, emphasizing its modernization and commitment to quality.
“"The immense work behind it."
Emilio Artero, for his part, highlighted that this is the second consecutive year Picualia has received this award, reflecting the cooperative's continuous effort. Fernández concluded that with this prize, “Jaén always wins,” stressing the sector's importance for the province.
