Music will expand this summer to the outskirts of Jaén with the presentation of 'Música en el extrarradio', a new initiative by the Municipal Patronage of Culture. The aim is to bring culture and live concerts to the Puentes areas, where many residents spend their summer months in their second homes.
The deputy mayor and councilor for Culture, María Espejo, accompanied by the neighborhood presidents of the different bridges, explained that the idea is to "move culture and live music to where our neighbors and people from Jaén go" to escape the heat of the capital. The series will feature four performances by two Jaén bands: Reclamados, offering covers from the 80s and 90s, and Finito, with a flamenco-rooted repertoire.
The first concert will take place on Saturday, July 18, in Puente de la Sierra with Reclamados. This will be followed by Finito on Saturday, July 25, in Puente Nuevo. The band Reclamados will perform again on Saturday, August 29, in Puente Jontoya, and will close the cycle on Saturday, September 19, in Puente Tablas.
The neighborhood presidents expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative. Miguel Medina, from Puente Nuevo, highlighted the opportunity to "enjoy and have the people of Jaén come down tonight with us." Miguel Hernández, from Puente de la Sierra, thanked them for the evenings and encouraged participation. Juan Ramón Moral, from Puente Tablas, emphasized the importance of these activities in the outskirts, which "more and more people live here, even year-round," and linked the September 19 concert to the autumn equinox and the area's Iberian heritage. Finally, Manuel Zapata, from Puente Jontoya, thanked the Patronage for their commitment and framed his concert as the "summer's closing party."
