As part of Operation Leka II, agents from the Narcotics Group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade have dismantled a marijuana plantation in a home in the Puente Nuevo area of Jaén capital. The operation concluded with the arrest of a resident and the seizure of a significant amount of drugs.
The investigation revealed that the property was fully adapted for intensive cannabis cultivation and storage, with an infrastructure designed to avoid detection from the outside. Following a judicially authorized entry and search, 9,218 grams of marijuana ready for distribution were found.
“"The dwelling functioned as a true “fortress” dedicated to the systematic production of cannabis."
The complexity of the case was heightened by the sophisticated concealment and protection system that hindered police work. Additionally, the operation involved the collaboration of Endesa technicians, who detected an illegal connection to the electrical grid. The estimated fraud for the high energy consumption required to maintain the plantation amounts to approximately 35,000 euros.
The arrested individual has been brought before the judicial authorities, facing charges for a public health offense and electricity fraud. The National Police emphasized that these illicit activities not only fuel drug trafficking but also pose a serious safety risk due to fraudulent electrical connections, which can cause fires or short circuits. This intervention has successfully removed a significant quantity of drugs from the market and dismantled a key supply point for small distributors in the city.
