This initiative comes in response to the needs of sports clubs, which have been affected since February by the closure of the indoor pool due to severe structural damage caused by a storm. The councilor responsible for the area and president of the Board, Beatriz López, emphasized that the goal is to “compensate for the deficit of hours and available lanes” experienced by athletes.
“"Compensate for the deficit of hours and available lanes."
Although the early opening is initially focused on use by sports entities, the Board does not rule out the possibility of also advancing the swimming season for the general public, provided that weather conditions are favorable. This flexibility aims to maximize the use of the facilities and meet citizen demands.
Additionally, an extension has been announced for the operating hours of the Las Fuentezuelas heated pool, which will now also open on Sunday afternoons, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. With this measure, the facility will be operational seven days a week, offering more options to users and strengthening the city's sports offerings.
These joint actions aim to ensure the continuity of sports activities in Jaén and effectively respond to user needs, in light of the exceptional situation created by the closure of one of the locality's main aquatic infrastructures.
