The decision, proposed by Cáritas Diocesana de Jaén and consulted with relevant bodies, was made by the Bishop of Jaén, Sebastián Chico. The aim is for donations to become a source of hope for those who have lost everything.
Cáritas Española launched an emergency campaign last Friday in response to a request from Cáritas Venezuela. The Diocese of Jaén immediately joined, enabling its donation channels. Contributions can be made via the website caritasjaen.es, bank account numbers, or through Bizum to 00242 with the concept «Cáritas con Venezuela».
The Cáritas Venezuela network, with its strong diocesan and parish structure, has extensive experience in natural disaster emergencies. Cáritas in the affected areas are assessing damages and coordinating responses to immediate needs by opening national and diocesan collection centers.
Furthermore, Cáritas Española has released 300,000 euros from its Emergency Program to urgently assist the population affected by the earthquake.
