Representatives of taxi associations in the city and province have detailed the progress towards sector unification, an initiative that the Jaén City Council supports with an investment of approximately €140,000. This union brings together the holders of the 120 taxi licenses in service in the city, as well as about fifty employees.
The mayor of the city, Julio Millán, along with the Councilor for Transport, María del Carmen Angulo, highlighted that sector unity was approved with nearly 90% support in recent assemblies. Millán thanked the joint work and emphasized the message of unity and future vision for the city.
The unification process is developing in parallel with the improvement of other mobility services, such as the anticipated launch of the tram, the renovation of the urban bus fleet, and the creation of new parking spaces. The Councilor for Transport expressed satisfaction with the results of the work done, which will benefit the city's mobility and transport.
Juan González, president of Radio Taxi, emphasized the value of joint work between the associations and the City Council, announcing that the new unified contact number will be 953 22 22 22. This number will simplify the service, prevent duplication, and reduce waiting times.
Luis Carlos García, president of the taxi guild, also expressed his satisfaction and announced that Antonio Garrido will lead the collective after the union. Garrido recalled the support from Mayor Julio Millán, even from his time as a candidate, and valued the respect for the necessary timelines to smooth out differences and achieve the process's success.
