The mayor of Jaén, Julio Millán, accompanied by the councilor for Heritage, José María Cano, and the deputy for Culture, África Colomo, met with members of the technical and artistic team behind the production. This meeting highlights the commitment of local institutions to fostering the audiovisual industry in the region.
Mandylion is presented as a police thriller, a joint production by La Plomada Producciones and Fonofox. The main cast includes prominent actors such as Pablo Castañón, Cuca Escribano, José Varela, Cristina Mediero, Manuel Salas, Agnés Kiraly, José Emilio Vera, Sol Navajo, Lola Vico, Adán Latonda, and Luisa Medina.
The film's plot is based on the novel of the same name by Raúl Cueto and revolves around the investigation into the theft of the Holy Face relic from the Jaén Cathedral. This event triggers a series of incidents and murders that form the narrative core of the movie.
Filming will take place in iconic locations throughout the province, including the capital city of Jaén, Castillo de Locubín, Valdepeñas de Jaén, and Torredonjimeno. The city councils of these municipalities are also participating as sponsors, adding to the support from the Provincial Council.
In addition to institutional backing, the project benefits from the collaboration of various private companies and entities. This initiative aims not only to boost the film industry in the province but also to showcase Jaén's rich cultural and natural heritage as an appealing setting for audiovisual productions.
