The Transport and Concessionary Companies departments of the Jaén City Council have driven these modifications to the urban bus service. The primary goal is to offer public transport that is more efficient, accessible, and better responsive to current citizen demands.
These measures, advised by municipal technicians, have been developed in collaboration with officials from the ALSA company, the concessionaire of the service. The initiative seeks to address requests and demands that various groups in Jaén have conveyed to the council.
“"The reorganization of several lines will optimize routes and reduce waiting times. These modifications have been designed after a detailed analysis of passenger flows and neighborhood demands, prioritizing areas with higher user volumes."
The local government has indicated that this line restructuring is being carried out in parallel with the progressive renewal of the bus fleet. More sustainable and accessible vehicles for people with reduced mobility are expected to be incorporated, reflecting the City Council's commitment to a modern and useful transport model for residents.
Among the most notable changes is the unification of lines 14, 17, and 20 into line 17. This measure aims to increase frequencies and improve service to key destinations such as the Neurotraumatological Hospital, the University, the Jaén Plaza Shopping Center, Pascual Acosta Avenue, Andalucía Avenue, the Fuente Alamillo area, and Barcelona Avenue.
Additionally, line 7, the circular route connecting the shopping center with the Circunvalación road, will be reinforced, especially during midday hours. Two new 18-meter articulated buses will also be introduced in May, providing support for special services during events and, in the future, coordinating tram transfers. From the 30th, the street market on Paco Manzaneda Street will commence, accessible via line transfers.
