A total of 26 historical festivals and reenactments will take place until November in the municipalities part of the tourist route Castles and Battles of the Kingdom of Jaén. The initiative, presented by the Deputy of Promotion and Tourism, Francisco Javier Lozano, and the President of the Castles and Battles Product Club, Kevin Izquierdo, aims to consolidate tourist-cultural proposals that enhance the province's defensive architecture.
Lozano emphasized the significance of this historical legacy, linked to Jaén's status as a border territory, and expressed pride in transforming this heritage into unique tourist experiences. He highlighted the collaboration between administrations and the private sector, materialized in the Castles and Battles Route Product Club, as a key promotional tool.
The 'Vive castillos y batallas' program began in May with the Medieval Festivals of Sabiote and the Ibero-Roman Festivals of Cástulo. It includes events such as the Calatrava Festivals of Alcaudete, the Andalusian Night of the Rose in Baños de la Encina, the Medieval Festivals of the Troubadour Macías in Arjonilla, the Nazari Nights of Arjona, or the Medieval Market of Andújar, among others.
These proposals, aimed at all audiences with a special focus on family tourism, highlight historical events and traditions of the province, reinforcing its uniqueness and the concentration of castles and watchtowers. The Provincial Council supports these 26 actions with 86,000 euros.
Furthermore, the 'Noches de luz en los castillos de Jaén' program will offer around twenty free nighttime shows and activities in the province's main fortresses, castles, and watchtowers. Designed to combat seasonality, it includes light, sound, and electronic music shows for young people, as well as musical and circus performances for families in municipalities like Baños de la Encina, Jódar, Alcaudete, Torredonjimeno, or La Iruela.
This cultural-tourist cycle also features the event 'Noches de Luz and candlelit walks', carefully curated experiences to enjoy the heritage and surroundings of each locality. All information is available on the 'Jaén, paraíso interior' website.
