From 6:00 PM until dawn, the streets and monuments of Jaén will open their doors to the public with a wide range of cultural offerings. This initiative, held in mid-May, aims to invigorate the city's cultural life with proposals for all tastes.
The program includes guided tours to emblematic places such as the Air-raid Shelter, the Minor Basilica of San Ildefonso, the Church of Santa María Magdalena, and the Holy Cathedral Church. Additionally, there will be concerts, dance performances, and various artistic events, all with free access until full capacity is reached.
The White Night, a concept born in Paris in 2002, has been adopted by numerous cities worldwide. In Jaén, the event is organized by the University of Jaén, the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación de Jaén, and the Jaén City Council, ensuring a magical night where culture will permeate every corner of the historic center.
The official inauguration is scheduled for 7:30 PM at the Lonja del Teatro Infanta Leonor, featuring a performance by the Jaén Municipal Music Band. The event is structured into five distinct zones to facilitate the organization of activities, covering areas from the Teatro Infanta Leonor to the Jaén Cathedral.
Among the highlighted activities are olive oil lamp creation workshops at the José Nogué School of Art and Design, exhibitions at the Arab Baths Cultural Center and the Provincial Historical Archive, and musical performances in various squares and courtyards, such as the Jaén Rock Choir in Plaza de San Juan and the Jaén Jazzy Gospel Show in the Patio Nuestra Señora de la Merced.
