The city of Jaén is gearing up for a weekend of intense activity, with various sports and religious events scheduled to cause significant traffic restrictions and detours. The Local Police has issued a statement via its social media channels, advising residents and visitors to avoid using private vehicles, especially in the historic center and downtown areas.
Saturday, April 18, is expected to be the most complex day, with up to five major events coinciding at the IFEJA facilities. These include the V Food and Gastronomy Fair “Degusta en Jaén”, the technology event Hackén, the Lamona Fest, and two sports matches: Jaén Paraíso Interior against Córdoba Patrimonio de la Humanidad, and Jaén CB versus LBC Cocinas.com.
“"Given the number of events that will be held simultaneously in our facilities, with a significant volume of visitors, we appreciate that, as far as possible, public transport be used to access IFEJA due to the limited number of parking spaces."
Traffic disruptions will begin on Friday, April 17, between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM, for the IX University of Jaén Charity Race, affecting the UJA sports facilities and several adjacent streets. On Saturday morning, from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, the IV Jaén City Children's Duathlon will cause restrictions around Catalina Mir Real street and other roads. In the afternoon, the transfer of the Simpecado del Rocío and the procession of the Santísima Virgen de la Cabeza, between 6:30 PM and 10:30 PM, will impact a wide route through the city center.
On Sunday, April 19, disruptions will continue with the VIII Fuente de la Peña Charity Trail CxM, starting from Plaza de Santa María, and a Poetic Musical Recital on Celadores street. Additionally, the XLII Torredonjimeno City Classic cycling race is expected to pass through Jaén around 12:48 PM, with detours on the Carretera de Los Villares and main avenues.
