With the majestic Jaén Cathedral as a backdrop, the musical ensemble, one of the oldest in the province with 125 years of history, delighted a large audience. The event was part of the commemoration of International Day for Monuments and Sites, celebrated every April 18, providing an unbeatable setting for the occasion.
Under the direction of Juany Martínez-de la Hoz Casas, the band presented a program designed to transport attendees to various cities and landscapes in Spain and around the world. The repertoire included a selection of pasodobles, zarzuelas, and contemporary compositions, creating a diverse and engaging musical journey.
The concert began with the pasodoble Alhambra by P. Monllor, followed by a selection from the first act of Cádiz by F. Chueca and J. Valverde. It continued with pieces such as Plaza de la Maestranza by D. Vela, the chotis Madrid by A. Lara, La Giralda by E. L. Juarranz, the military march Bailén by E. Cebrián, and the mountain pasodoble Santander by E. Pérez Rosillo.
The second part of the program had an international focus, featuring performances of América by J. L. Armenteros and P. Herrero, the iconic New York, New York by J. Kander and F. Ebb, and Las Playas de Río by K. Vlak. The evening concluded with a harmonious blend of music and Jaén's rich cultural heritage in one of its most emblematic spaces.
