The political formation has rejected the regional administration's justification, which attributes the project's slowdown to the management of aid for storm damages. This explanation has been deemed unacceptable by the municipal group, which believes the project was already years behind schedule.
According to Jaén Merece Más, the situation of the Los Puentes collector is a clear example of the administrative hurdles affecting essential infrastructure in the city. Despite being declared of regional interest, which should have expedited its process, the project has remained stalled for a considerable time.
The municipal group recalled that the Jaén City Council submitted the corrected project in September 2025, in accordance with the requirements of the Junta de Andalucía itself. Its approval was even anticipated before the end of that year, a deadline that has not been met, adding another unfulfilled commitment to a series of promises regarding this infrastructure.
“"It is unacceptable to continue seeking excuses to delay an action that directly affects the well-being of thousands of residents and has real consequences for housing regularization, the environmental surroundings, and the city's ability to cope with intense rainfall."
Jaén Merece Más emphasizes that the Los Puentes collector is not a minor work but a fundamental infrastructure for regularizing homes, improving environmental conditions, reducing negative impacts on the natural environment, and helping to mitigate problems arising from increasingly frequent intense rainfall. Its direct impact on the quality of life for thousands of Jaén families makes its delay unsustainable.
Therefore, the municipal group demands that the Junta de Andalucía immediately resume processing the file, expedite all pending procedures, including the signing of necessary agreements, and guarantee the project's funding without further delays, addressing a historical demand from the city.
