Following the announcements made by the President of the Junta de Andalucía at the PP Andalusian Intermunicipal meeting in Córdoba, the Jaén Merece Más party stated that the continuation of the Olive Grove Highway and the development of a Demographic Challenge Law, with special focus on Jaén, are a result of their persistence. The party, which hopes to gain representation in the Andalusian Parliament in the upcoming elections, emphasizes that these proposals have been part of their political program since its inception.
“"Back then, those who now boast about developing a demographic challenge law called us alarmists."
A party spokesperson recalled that both the Popular Party and the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party had ignored the problem of depopulation in Jaén for years. According to the party, this situation has caused a constant loss of population in the province for four decades, resulting in the worst demographic data in all of Andalucía.
The reactivation of the Olive Grove Highway, another significant announcement, is also attributed by Jaén Merece Más to its intervention. The party points out that the project had been stalled for years and that their pressure in negotiations with the Popular Party was decisive for its revival. As a result of these agreements, the execution of an additional six kilometers in Martos and the initiation of environmental procedures for the pending sections between this Jaén locality and Estepa in Seville were agreed upon.
Currently, Jaén Merece Más maintains co-governance agreements with the Popular Party in the municipalities of Baeza, Santisteban del Puerto, and Santiago-Pontones. The party hopes that the announced initiatives will progress quickly and that the necessary budgetary allocations will be made to address the needs of the province.
